Artist Statement
My artworks preserve ordinary moments. They serve as an invitation – a window into the private spaces in which I seek emotional refuge, engage in physical maintenance, and reconcile the distance between bodies. Mundane aspects pulled from everyday life – a map of a familiar neighborhood, a used makeup wipe, a body on the verge of sleep – are transformed into significant instances of intense contemplation and connection. I am interested in the sentimental collection of material, the accumulation of thousands of stitches, and the persistent memory of clay. Relying on the ability of materials to serve as extensions of the body, I aim to reveal the ordinary as something remarkable and explicitly human.
